Being that I have never used a bark collar before, I have nothing to compare to. That being said I couldn’t talk any higher of this product. My lab goes outside all day long and barks at a family of squirrels in our tree. If he wants inside he knows that barking will do the trick. Someone at the door and he goes nuts. You get the picture. Other than the barking he is an extremely smart and well behaved dog.
I got the collar in the mail only this week. I had the collar set on the lowest sensitivity setting to start out. The first time he went outside I heard him bark 3 times. The first 2 times the alarm goes off after that you have 5 more levels each one getting a little stronger. I do not believe that he has gotten past the first shock. Now IF he barks it is once MAYBE twice but never 3 times. The alarm is enough to remind him to not bark. I had some visitors that I was talking to on my front porch and my other dogs were barking however not him! My last comment on how well this works is that my neighbor asked me if I got rid of my dog! HA She said that she thought he was either unwell and not outside or that I got rid of him because she hasn’t heard him.
The collar was very easy to put together. It does come with 2 sets of prong covers to insure you get the best connection to the dogs skin. When it is time to go outside I get his collar down and he wiggles around with no fear what so ever of the collar. I am certain that the collar is not hurting him.
